Figure 29. These are the brackets for the TSM Manufacturing CJ7 Dana 44 Rear Disc Brake Kit. It is a bolt on kit, and no welding is necessary to use it. This is the only bolt on kit we are aware of to convert this axle to disc brakes. Not shown in the picture are the calipers and hardware that comes with it. You have the option of calipers with e-brake, and calipers without. We chose calipers without as we are going to utilize a transfer case mounted driveline brake so we do not have to worry about e-brake cables getting hung up on rocks and obstacles.
Figure 30. The red on the brackets was just plain ugly, so we had them powder coated copper at Top Dog Powdercoating in Omaha, NE. They came out beautifully. We have used this color on the engine brackets, oil pan, and will use it on various other items as we go.
Figure 31. We are now starting the install of the disc brake kit. First, put some gasket sealer on the axle tube flange.
Figure 32. Insert the bolts in the axle flange. Make sure they are seated all the way in.
