Spindles removed

Figure 9. The old gears and carrier prior to removal. These are 3.73 gears, and will not be reused. We have to match the gears that are in the rear differential to prevent catastrophic windup in the drivetrain. The rear has 4:88 gears and that is what we will install in this housing. The carriers have a hard break at 3.92 and up gears, vs lower gears, as the thickness of the ring gear is different for the lower gears than the higher gears. Because of that, we will also not be using this carrier in the rebuild. We also need to use an open carrier so we can install the Aussie Locker we plan to install.

Figure 10. This is the front view of the PartsMike Dana 44 Inner C. This unit is pretty stout, way stronger than the factory C. These will be installed on both ends of the axle housing.

Figure 11. This is the rear view of the PartsMike Dana 44 Inner C. We can't stay enough good things about this unit, it is very nicely cast and machined. It is reasonably priced also.
